David Hunt National Trust Enthusiast - Amateur Photographer - Lecturer - Rambler
About Me
I did a physics degree and retired a few years ago after working in the computer industry for nearly 47 years.
While at school I started an interest in photography and now have a collection of thousands of images of places that have interested me.
Over 40 years ago I became interested in the National Trust, and I visit lots of its properties, including countryside and coast as well as the more obvious houses and gardens. I have been actively involved at different times with two National Trust supporter groups, in particular being on the committee of the former South East Berkshire Association in various roles for over 20 years. For several years I was a volunteer tour guide at Shalford Mill, a National Trust property near Guildford.
I have always enjoyed walking, whether alone, in a small party, or as part of a Ramblers group. I am now on the committee of the South East Berkshire group of the Ramblers and help to organise their programme.
Over the years I have shared my allegiance between the Methodist and Anglican churches and am now a member of St Michaels Church Sandhurst, for whom I help to maintain the website.
I grew up very close to a bridge, hence my long-term interest in bridges and the choice of heading photograph on these pages.
Talks
I offer a variety of illustrated talks to local groups, especially on various aspects of the National Trust. Please browse these pages for more details or email me for a printable leaflet. I normally ask for travel expenses plus a donation to charity (usually the National Trust) in lieu of a fee.
During the Coronavirus lockdown I began giving talks remotely using Zoom, and I am happy to continue this method of presentation.
